Terms of Service

Last updated: January 2025

Agreement to terms

By downloading, installing, or using Am I on Mute? ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you don't agree to these terms, please don't use the App.

License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App on any Mac computers that you own or control, subject to these Terms and Apple's App Store terms.

The Free tier provides perpetual access to core features. The Pro upgrade is a one-time purchase that unlocks additional features permanently.

What you can't do

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App
  • Rent, lease, or lend the App to third parties
  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose

Purchases & refunds

All purchases are processed through Apple's App Store. Refund requests must be submitted to Apple directly according to their refund policy.

The Pro upgrade is a one-time purchase. Once purchased, you own it forever with no recurring fees.

The App is provided "as is"

We provide the App "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We don't guarantee that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or compatible with all hardware configurations.

Some audio devices (particularly Bluetooth headphones) may not support software mute control. The App will detect and notify you if this occurs.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App. This includes, but is not limited to, any embarrassment caused by mute-related incidents (though we hope the App prevents those!).

Changes to terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes through the App or via email if you've subscribed to updates. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, without regard to conflict of law principles.
